The DMECA Annual Alumni Meet & Networking Dinner 2025, held on 25 January 2025 at The Westin, Powai, Mumbai, marked a milestone in the association’s journey. With over 750 attendees, including DMET alumni, sponsors, and media partners, the event was widely regarded as the most successful alumni gathering in DMECA’s history at the time. Alumni from across generations came together for an evening defined by connection, pride, and shared identity within the DMET fraternity.

The event brought together senior captains, chief engineers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and maritime professionals, reinforcing DMECA’s role as a unifying platform for the community.
Leadership & Organisation
The success of the event was driven by strong leadership and sustained effort over several months. The DMECA leadership team, led by President Mr. Uday Purohit and Secretary Mr. Mudit Mehrotra, worked closely with volunteers and supporters to deliver an event of this scale. Their efforts were supported by key contributors including Pradeep Singh, Shashi Dhar Mishra, and Prateek Khanna, whose dedication played a vital role in planning and execution.

A standout moment of the evening was the felicitation of a world-record-holding DMETian mountaineer, who achieved the rare feat of summiting Mount Everest and Lhotse twice within a single week in 2024.The recognition celebrated excellence beyond professional life and highlighted the values of resilience and determination instilled through DMET training.

Giving Back to the Alma Mater
During the event, DMECA reiterated its commitment to supporting the alma mater. In 2025, the association announced plans to collaborate with the DMECA Hong Kong Alumni Association, DMET Club, and a growing network of sponsors and partners. DMECA committed ₹1 crore over three years towards institutional support. Funds were utilised for initiatives including:
- Water coolers at Kolkata and Mumbai campuses
- Food waste treatment plant
- Procurement of essential training equipment
