About Us

Our Story

Marine engineering careers span oceans, industries, and decades. DMECA was formed to ensure that as careers evolve, the connection to the institution and to fellow cadets remains strong.

Founded as a formal forum for ex-cadets of DMET/MERI, DMECA addresses the need for continuity—of relationships, of responsibility toward the alma mater, and of collective support across generations.

Beyond professional networking, DMECA serves as a platform for mentorship, collaboration, and shared growth. It brings together experienced marine engineers and emerging professionals to exchange knowledge, uphold maritime values, and strengthen the legacy of DMET/MERI through active engagement and mutual support.

Membership

All alumni of DMET/MERI/IMU from the Kolkata and Mumbai campuses are eligible to become members of DMECA.

Associate Member: Fresh MERI pass-outs (valid for 3 years)
Annual Member (NRI): Members of overseas satellite units
Co-Opted Member: Additional Executive Committee members

Initiatives & Contributions

Donations & Benevolent Fund :-

DMECA conducts well-structured fundraising initiatives to provide timely financial assistance to alumni facing medical or personal emergencies, while also supporting merit-based scholarships for deserving students and funding academic and institutional initiatives that contribute to long-term development.

Transparency and Governance:-

All funds are managed with due diligence, Executive Committee oversight, and transparent utilization aligned with the Association’s trust framework.
